When did Master's Touch Academy Open?
The Master's Touch Academy opened in August 2002. We provide a unique program of special education to children in Middle Tennessee and to children whose families will move here from across America to take advantage of the program offered at our school.
How did the concept of Master's Touch Academy originate?
Inspiration for the Master's Touch Academy came from Hidden Treasure Christian School in Greenville, South Carolina. Hidden Treasure is a ministry of special education to children with special needs. Unlike any other school, Hidden Treasure's philosophy and objectives are based on Biblical principles in regard to children with special needs. The Master's Touch Academy is an affiliate of Hidden Treasure Christian School. We share the same mission and objectives that guide Hidden Treasure Christian School.
What is the mission of The Master's Touch Academy?
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Master's Touch Academy is to provide spiritual and academic training to young people who are academically, mentally and/or physically challenged; to prepare and equip them to accept and pursue God's will for their lives; overcoming by His Grace or accepting as His Will, any obstacles or limitations He has chosen to place or allow in their lives.
The mission statement is based on the Biblical principle that God has given each of us everything we need to do His perfect will for our lives. (II Corinthians 4:7, Philippians 4:13, 19)

What is the maximum number of students that can be enrolled at The Master's Touch Academy?
Initially, the number of students will be limited. Our goal is to enroll as many children as we can but to meet the needs of those who attend. As provision for more teachers and aides increase, our enrollment will also. We will try to maintain a waiting list of students that desire the special education of services offered by the Master's Touch Academy. We currently have 14 students enrolled at MTCA with a capacity for 80 students.
Who is eligible for enrollment at the Master's Touch Academy?
The Master's Touch Academy enrolls students who, for various reasons, cannot function in a normal classroom setting. The disabilities represented in our student body include physical disabilities, mental disabilities, autism, aphasia, apraxia, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, Down's syndrome and developmental delays. We accept students regardless of race, sex, national origin.
What ages are the students that will attend the Master's Touch Academy?
The age at which we accept a student depends a great deal on his/her individual needs. Typically we accept students ages 3 through 18 but can continue to meet the educational needs of students through the age of 23, depending on their level of achievement.
What type of teaching materials will be used?
Because of the individual needs of each student, a variety of traditional and specially designed materials are used to meet our student's needs. No one curriculum or curriculum publisher can provide all that is necessary. In some situations our teachers create their own teaching materials to help reinforce a concept being taught.
How long will a student be enrolled at the Master's Touch Academy?
The length of time that a student is enrolled depends on the student's ability and performance. Our goal for students with learning disabilities is to get them to a point that they can be incorporated back into a regular school setting. A "learning-disabled" student may be enrolled with us for a period of time in which he or she is taught how to make the appropriate adjustments and accommodations within his or her academic program. Hopefully, this student would then be able to take the acquired skills and use them successfully in a regular school environment. Students with mental handicaps may be with us up to the age of 23. The length of time we would retain a student would depend on the desires of the parents and our ability to incorporate the student into a vocational training program. We want to be able to offer these young people an opportunity to serve and/or make a contribution to their community.
Are contributions to The Master's Touch Christian Academy tax deductible?
Yes, The Master's Touch Christian Academy is a non-profit 501c3 organization. All donations made to MTCA are tax deductible.
